This is a camp in Lake Geneva, and I am waiting for 600 people to arrive to work my facilitating prowess.
If you know the local tourism industry, you know there is a season which mainly runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day. If you know summer camps, you understand the sigh of release once the final campers are taken home before the heave to plan for the next season. This camp in particular stays busy all year round. Thus the massive group arriving within the hour.
This is the calm –the lull– before jumping into action. Before charter buses roll in, before my multiple shifts of walking in the woods and ropes course and climbing tower belaying, this autumn day dawns. Ready to send beams of beauty through mazes of leafy splendor, the unencumbered sunlight will launch busy workers into action and busy guests into learning mode. Connections forged, education outside the classroom experienced– the excitement of the coming day awaits.
